Hereford Ploughing Match

Every Autumn Ploughing matches are held around the country by various Ploughing Societies, its quite varied and ranges from Horse drawn ploughing to the new multi horse power tractors with rotating ploughs behind them, doing more in an hour than the horses can do in half a day.

Its judged on the way the Soil has been turned over with no turf showing – its quite competitive .

  1. Good to see some documentary work Tim, ‘Doing it the hard way’ is straight out of the forties! Some good stuff here and adds a new dimension to the blog.

    • Cheers Tim, i’ve been going through some of my stuff from last year and forgot about this lot !
